There’s a special connection with products when you use plants that you have grown and harvested with your own hands. It feels like giving a piece of yourself to every customer in the best way possible and adds a new level of quality and pride to everything I make.
When I was a little girl growing up in West Virginia, I tended to prefer the company of the old folks, like my grandparents and my friends' grandparents (whom I now claim as my own.) By surrounding myself with people who had no choice but to live off of the land for survival, respect and fondness for the land and everything that lives on it was instilled into the very basis of my character. I learned the old folks’ rules, techniques, and superstitions about things like farming, gardening, and foraging. I loved every minute I spent with my elderly friends and mentors, and cherished their lessons and stories more than they could’ve known.
As I got older, I lost the wonder and curiosity that kept me in the garden or the woods for hours on end. I only used my green thumb as a way to relieve some stress from other things I deemed as more important. Now, I've decided to reclaim that wonder and admiration for our environment and its blessings. Learning herbalism is a way for me to get back to my roots and connect to my ancestors, and I can't believe I get to share my home’s magic and history through each order I send out!
